John and Martha Stewart

John and Martha Stewart, Kokomo, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with all but one of their family members in attendance.

They were married July 26, 1947, in the Howard County Courthouse by Capt. Albert Kelly of the Salvation Army. They were the first couple to be married in the Memorial Hall.

Martha worked at Stellite and Delco and after retirement at the Party House. After serving in the U.S. Navy, John worked at Chrysler and sold real estate and insurance. He also worked at Don Lowry Lanes.

Their children are Julie and husband Murry Herron, Woodland Park, Colo., and Jeff Stewart, Kokomo. Their six grandchildren are Gina Herron, Lisa Cavalleri, Angela Herron, Christian Herron, Danielle Stewart and Summer Stewart. Their three great-grandchildren are Dominik Herron, Presley Herron and Angelo Cavalleri.
