Robert H. and Chieko I. Wathen, Kokomo, will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary on Aug. 22 and 23, 2010.
In separate civil ceremonies, they were wed Aug. 22, 1955, at the American Consulate and the Aichi Prefectural Office in Nagoya, Japan. The following day, they were married at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by the Rev. Jacob Mizoguchi.
Both are retired from the former Delco Electronics Division of General Motors.
They have one daughter, Mary S. (Wathen) Ahern and husband Paul, Minneapolis, Minn.; and one son, Mark Wathen, Aberdeen, N.C.. They have four grandchildren, Diane M. Ahern and John R. Ahern, and MacKenna and MacAllister Wathen.
