William and Helen Kubly celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 15, 2010, with a dinner with family and friends.
William and the former Helen Townsend were married Aug. 27, 1950, at the First Baptist Church in Alexandria by the Rev. George W. Winfrey.
The couple met while roller skating at Ideal Beach in Monticello. She retired as a secretary after 25 years at Haynes International, and he retired after 37 years as a manager at Kokomo Gas & Fuel.
Their children are Cindy and husband Ralph Joyce, Kokomo, and Julie and husband David Baker, Kokomo. They have three grandchildren, Beth Rakestraw, Eric Baker and Kyle Baker, all of Kokomo, and seven great-grandchildren.
