Ron and Betty Shoemaker, Kokomo, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 8 at Christian Life Fellowship, Greentown, hosted by their children, Terry Shoemaker and Lori Denny.
Ron and the former Betty Joyce Adams were married Sept. 2 1962, at Burlington Christian Church. Ron met Betty when he was on leave in Indiana from being aboard the USS Randolph aircraft carrier, stationed in Norfolk, Va.
Betty is a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Ron is retired from Delphi Electronics-GM.
Their children are the late Tim Shoemaker and daughter-in-law Vicki Shoemaker, Westfield; Terry Shoemaker, Roann; and Lori and husband David Denny, Wabash. Their grandchildren are Katrina, Kristen, Jon and Alyssa Shoemaker, Eden and Emma Shoemaker, and Hope and Grace Denny.
