Richard and Jane Read, Kokomo, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house hosted by their children and grandchildren from 2 to 4 p.m. today at UAW 292, 1201 W. Alto Road.
Richard and the former Jane Gaither were married Oct. 5, 1962, in First Baptist Church by the Rev. John Newsom.
Jane is a retired registered nurse, who has worked at Howard Community Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, Tipton Hospital, and Indiana Surgery Center.
Richard retired from Delphi Electronics in 2005 after 44 years of service.
Their children are Marcia Gaskins, Kokomo, Mary Kay and husband John Garcia, Carmel, Judi and husband Kris Townsend, Russiaville, and Mike Read, Kokomo. Their grandchildren are Ashley, Kayla, Amanda, and Erica Gaskins, Jeremy and Jason Garcia, Austin Townsend, Tyler VanDorn, Kelsey, Haley, and Jaicee Read, and Austin Camp.
