William and Gloria Jean Babb

William C. and Gloria Jean Babb III, Kokomo, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 1 with an open house hosted by their children at Faith United Methodist Church.

William and the former Gloria Jean Huff were married Sept. 1, 1962, in Purdum Street Pilgrim Holiness Church by the groom’s father, the Rev. William C. Babb II. The couple met at church, and he proposed on bended knee.

Gloria Jean is retired from Oakland University. William is pastor of Deedsville United Methodist Church and Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Their children are Cathy and husband Todd Burton, of Fishers, Kelly and husband Paul Eckart, of McCordsville, Jeanna Hernadez, of LaPorte, and Bill and wife Carmen Babb, of Peru. They have nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
