For their protection: Rebecca Stewart, 10, and her mom Tammy brought in their bichon frises’, Spike and Spot, to be microchipped at the Kokomo Humane Society Sunday. The microchip, which is the size of a grain of rice, is put into a dog or cat between their shoulder blades. Should an animal run away, is lost or stolen, an animal shelter or veterinarian can use an electronic reader to scan the embedded chip and find who the animal belongs to.
