Mary K. ‘Aunt Kate’ England

Mary K. ”Aunt Kate” England, 91, Kokomo, passed away at 10:25 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 in Golden Living-Sycamore Village, Kokomo.  

Born July 17, 1921 in Jerome, she was the daughter of the late David England and Bessie (Lindley) England. She was a graduate of Union Township Schools. She worked at Kresges Snack Bar for years and also cooked for area nursing homes. She enjoyed quilting and sewing.

Survivors include one nephew, Myron (Linda) Pickering, Sebring, Fla.; one niece, Claudia (Bill) Gilliam, West Elwood; great-nephews, Brian (Erin) Pickering, Carmel, and Blair Gilliam, Virginia; one great-niece Deana Pickering-James, New Palestine; great-great-nephews,. Kyle James,Atlanta, Ga., Cody James, Charleston, S.C., and Spencer Pickering, Carmel; great-great-nieces, Courtney James, New Palestine, Sydney Pickering. Carmel, and Shelby Pickering, Carmel; and one great-great-great-nephew, Julian James-Stacey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Walter England; and one sister, Grace England Pickering.

Services will be 1 p.m., Monday at Main Street United Methodist Church, 830 S. Main St., Kokomo. Pastor Nancy Blevins will officiate. Burial will follow in Jerome Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or to Aseracare Hospice, with envelopes available at the church. You may read the England obituary at www.ellersmortuary.com, where you can sign the guestbook, order flowers or share a personal message to the family.
