Ex-Evansville officer convicted of sex charges

EVANSVILLE — Jurors have convicted a former Evansville police officer on charges that he forced two women into sex acts while he was on duty.

The Vanderburgh County jury found 29-year-old Martin Montgomery guilty of two felony counts of criminal deviate conduct on Tuesday.

Prosecution witnesses testified that Montgomery on separate instances in 2008 and 2009 forced women into sex acts with each other or with him after he had gone to their homes on reports of disorderly conduct.

Defense attorney Dennis Brinkmeyer questioned the women's credibility as they had all been drinking alcohol at the time.

Montgomery resigned from the police force soon after his arrest last year and faces six years to 20 years in prison on each conviction.
