Trelleborg plant in Peru will close

Closure will cause loss of 200 jobs by year end

PERU — Swedish plastics and polymer maker Trelleborg Automotive says it will close its north-central Indiana plant, costing about 200 workers their jobs.

Officials with the Stockholm-based company said Friday that its Peru plant would remain open until the end of the year.

The company said a drop in demand for its products by North American automakers led to its decision to close the plant.

Trelleborg said the Peru plant’s closure is part of a reorganization it announced earlier this year for its automotive division.
