Obama is harming the private sector

Well, I can’t be silent any longer. I do not understand how the Tribune or the rest of the media can continue to give a free pass to what this administration is doing to the private sector of this country.

You provide front-page coverage for Mr. Donnelly to put forth his agenda and trash what appears to be an honest effort on Mr. Mourdock’s efforts to recover the investments that, according to law, he should be able to recover.

Mr. Donnelly would have you believe that Mourdock’s doing something underhanded or unscrupulous when, in fact, it is Mr. Donnelly who is being what he accuses Mr. Mourdock of doing.

This whole auto bailout stinks and appears on the surface to be borderline illegal. Since when does the government dictate to federal courts what the outcome is?

Mr. Mourdock, according to law, has a legal claim to the assets of Chrysler for the secured bonds, according to the contract sale of the bonds. The American people need to be told the truth about the facts of this bailout and how much it will cost the taxpayers and who will be the beneficiary of the bailout funds – so far, a foreign company and the UAW, neither of which has contributed a dime, unless you count the $400 million the UAW gave to the political party in power.

I am still amazed all the people who worked so hard for so many years to trash the last administration for constitutional violations, mostly in defense of the country, are totally silent now in the face of more abuses, solely as pay backs and power plays.

‘Peddle car’ plan won’t save industry

I am a proud Chrysler owner! I have a beautiful Chrysler 300 that gets 25 to 27 miles per gallon. My husband has a Jeep Commander. He was employed by Chrysler for 36 years, which provided a comfortable life for us. We have always bought Chrysler/Dodge vehicles to support our company.

Living in the Kokomo area with all other Chrysler, GM, Delphi employees and retirees, I do not recall reading one letter from anyone defending our product! I wonder why? These corporations make a lot of efficient, beautiful vehicles.

We are now being pushed into building and driving these little “peddle cars” to save fuel and help the economy! How feasible is this? How much down-the-road thought has gone into this grand plan?

I haven’t seen one safety report come out in any media, questioning how safe it would be to drive these cars. Where are they? Can you imagine a semi crashing into a few of these cars on the highway? The death tolls will surely rise as well as injuries.

What about large families? Do you buy two or three of these “cars” to go on vacation or wherever? Who could afford to do that?

What about families with small children or babies? How are the required safety car seats ever going to fit in these cars? One would be impossible, what if two were needed? Or is safety not important anymore?

Our auto industry needs to work harder to build fuel-efficient vehicles, and it can, right here in America! We need to support our own auto industry, stand together and quit waiting for someone else to save us!
