‘Click It or Ticket’ deemed a success

After about two weeks and 50 extra hours of patrols, the Tipton County Sheriff Department netted 160 citations, warnings and arrests during the “Click It or Ticket” campaign.

Deputy Jeff Pyke said he was happy with the results, which are similar to previous “Click It or Ticket” blitzes.

The campaign, which was funded by the National Highway Traffic Administration, ran from May 15 to May 30. Three Tipton County deputies put in a total of an extra 56.5 hours of patrol, arrest and administration time.

Along with warnings and citations for seat belt and other traffic violations, deputies made two arrests: one on suspicion of operating while intoxicated and the other on the charge of driving while suspended.

Pyke said the sheriff department’s next campaign will begin in August. It will be an Operation Pull Over blitz that will crack down on impaired driving, he said.
