Man walks into two apartments during the night

Residents in two apartments on Laguna Street awoke to a surprise this weekend when they found a man idling about in their living rooms.

Kokomo police arrested Thomas Fletcher, 41, Indianapolis, after first receiving a call early Saturday from Mary Partlow that a man had walked into her apartment in the 900 block of Laguna Street, according to police reports.

Partlow told police she lives alone, and she was scared by the man, who began looking around her apartment after she saw him. Partlow told the man to “please leave,” but he kept looking around.

Police also responded to a complaint from Edith Slabaugh in a neighboring unit, according to reports.

Slabaugh told police Michael Hinkle, who also lives in her apartment and was sleeping on the couch, awoke to find a man sitting at the kitchen table.

Hinkle told the man to leave, but he stayed in the apartment.

After police arrived at Slabaugh’s apartment, they identified the man as Fletcher. They also discovered Slabaugh’s two vehicles had been entered as well.

Police arrested Fletcher on two counts of residential entry, a Class D felony, which can net up to three years in prison for each charge if he is convicted.
