City should utilize trained volunteers

I have lived in Kokomo for 25 years, and I am sick and tired of these Kokomo firefighters whining and crying about these difficult economic times. These people act as though they are the only work force affected by the downturn in our economy.

Why is it that Kokomo firefighters only work nine days a month?

They are paid while they sleep.

Most Kokomo firefighters have two full-time jobs because of their work schedule.

Why are firefighters allowed to work 24-hour shifts instead of eight-hour shifts?

They’re spoiled and believe they are entitled to whatever they feel their wants and needs are.

Kokomo firefighters are using scare tactics to gain public support. This city is safe and will not burn to the ground as these people want you to believe.

Let’s tell the real facts about our fire department. Go online and look at the national averages for cities our size.

Put Kokomo firefighters on eight-hour shifts and utilize trained volunteers.

Trained volunteer firefighters get the job done.

Let these 500 supporters pay the salaries and benefits for the 16.

Kokomo people are naive, and I hope they don’t listen to Bob Cameron and Kevin Summers. Cameron and Summers sound like Goodnight when he was courting city employees to make a bid for the mayor’s office.

If we want to see this city in a bigger mess, just follow the Cameron and Summers show. Kokomo and Howard County deserve better leadership. Let’s elect people that are qualified, competent and who know the meaning of fiscal responsibility.

The economy has affected everyone, but Kokomo has suffered from a lack of competent leadership, interference and influence by the good ole boy network and an array of other antiquated ideas and practices.

Turn in to police those responsible

I am writing this to try and get some help in locating the three persons responsible for wrongfully beating my brother last Friday at 3:50 a.m. at his home on East Wheeler Street in Kokomo.

Please, be man enough to turn yourself in while you still can! My brother is laying in Methodist Hospital with severe neck and spinal cord injuries. They beat him severely in the face. His hands are crippled, and he is paralyzed from the chest down!

You three men aren’t men at all! Does it take three people to hurt one man? Why did you want to ruin this man’s life? I hope you are happy knowing what you did!

My brother never bothered anyone. He worked every day and loved to ride his Harley motorcycle and spend time with his family. You cowards have taken this away from him! He keeps asking why this happened to him. God only knows!

If anyone knows who did this, please contact Brian Thompson of the Kokomo Police Department. Please! My brother (Seth Sanders Jr.) needs your help! I need your help to get these punks off the streets before they hurt someone else and destroy other lives!

Bill Sanders, Michigantown
