Woman injured in hit-and-run
Kokomo Police have arrested a man they say hit a pedestrian with his van while driving with a blood-alcohol level almost four times the legal limit.
Officers received a report Wednesday night of a hit-and-run accident near the intersection of Jefferson Street and Ruddell Drive.
When police arrived on the scene, they found a woman there who said a van did not stop at a stop sign, hit her, then drove off. She complained of pains in both her legs.
Officers later found a vehicle matching the woman’s description at a house in the 2300 block of West Jefferson Street. They also found Caleb A. Blackamore, 27, 2200 block of West Jefferson Street. According to police reports, officers detected a strong odor of alcohol on Blackamore. Police then arrested Blackamore.
Blood tests showed Blackamore had a .31 blood-alcohol content, according to police.
Police preliminarily charged Blackamore with failure to stop at a personal injury crash, a Class D felony, as well as several misdemeanors.
