Soupley’s alleged robber surrenders

The man who robbed Soupley’s Liquor store Wednesday evening ended a brief investigation when turned himself into police Friday.

Detective Chad Rogers of the Kokomo Police Department’s criminal investigations unit said Robert L. Isabelle allegedly walked into the police station and admitted to robbing the store.

Isabelle, 44, Kokomo, was taken into custody and charged with Class C felony robbery.

Officers responded to the liquor store at 610 N. Washington St. Wednesday evening to a report of a robbery. The clerk told police that a man entered the business and handed the clerk a note demanding money, and fled on a bicycle.

Isabelle remains jailed on a $25,000 bail and is set to appear for his initial hearing Wednesday in Howard Circuit Court.

If convicted, he could face up to eight years in prison.

Miami County arrests

Wednesday, 1:25 p.m., state police arrested Mark E. Hamilton, 44, 100 block of West Howes Street, Denver, on a felony charge of manufacturing methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a park.

Wednesday, 6 p.m., deputies arrested Matthew R. Batchler, 22, 70 block of West Riverside Drive, Peru, on a warrant to serve 10 days in jail.

Thursday, 1:25 a.m., deputies arrested Jeffrey M. Anderson, 26, 900 block of East Main Street, Logansport, on a Cass County body attachment charge of failure to appear in court on a charge of theft.

Thursday, 3:55 p.m., deputies arrested Dennis E. Hughes, 51, 700 block of East Madison Street, Peru, on a warrant to serve 90 days in jail.
