Councilman Zook has fine qualities

Hello! I want to tell you about a person I call friend.

A man in his 60s. Has a wife; raised a family with grandchildren. Takes care of a friend 24/7 – food, health, heat, etc. Runs a business.

Repairs vehicles – a wrecker service, a volunteer fireman, a police liaison officer and a town board member.

In all kinds of weather drops what he is doing, night or day, to go fight fires or attend a wreck. A person of extraordinary valor when needed. Although not perfect, an endless list of fine qualities. Can you imagine he has no time for a vacation? I wonder why?

Yet a whole town is after him because he marches to a different drum. Can any of you out there say you do one, two or three things he does well, or at all? Do you just sit around and complain – dream up ways to put him out of business? Shame on some of you.

I’m talking about John Zook, Galveston, Ind. Proud to know you!

Palin sold out her constituents

I must take issue with Peter Heck’s article regarding Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. Governor Palin has sold out her constituents for the big bucks offered by the lucrative world of speaking engagements and book deals.

Governor Palin, during the last election, proved that she is incapable of speaking to the important issues with any kind of depth or insight. Often times she would ignore reporters’ questions in order to make a point about something else.

Republicans would be better served to look toward candidates such as Mitt Romney or Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty. Both have not only served admirably but also filled out their terms in office that they were elected to.

Even within Palin’s own party, a survey indicated that 51 percent felt that she was incapable of being president. History has shown that candidates to the far left or far right stand little chance of being elected president (such as Goldwater and McGovern). Palin’s future should be at Fox News, not 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

‘Real’ Christian can’t get elected

I hope Sarah Palin won’t run for president. She is not a nominal Christian, a sometime church-goer.

She is a spirit-filled Christian and all the forces of evil in this country, especially the left-wing media, rose up against her.

It isn’t fair for her children to see their mother made fun of and reviled by the leftists in the government and the media. I doubt that a real Christian could be elected president in this country.
