Ind. girl, 8, rescued from pond by brother, father

FORT WAYNE (AP) — A northeastern Indiana girl has recovered from a near-drowning after her brother and father rescued her from an icy pond's frigid waters.

Conservation officers say Samantha Buuck was walking on a frozen pond behind her family's Fort Wayne home Saturday when she fell through the ice. Buuck's 12-year-old brother, Anthony, heard her cries and ran and jumped into the water. He reached his sister and began yelling for help.

The Journal Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/ZgBKYj ) the siblings' father, Dale Buuck, heard the screams and ran to the pond, where he helped his kids into shallow water. The 12-year-old performed CPR on his sister until their father took over.

Samantha Buuck returned home Sunday from the hospital after shaking off some cramps and water in her lungs.
