Ivy Tech Community College will have the Corporate College Expo on Wednesday in Kokomo.

The program will include a panel of business and industry leaders who have partnered with Ivy Tech for training, people who have completed the college’s training programs and have had career successes because of it, and experts who will provide details on how Corporate College can address businesses’ needs.

The event is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kokomo Event and Conference Center, 1500 N. Reed Road.

Tours of the facility, which Ivy Tech acquired last year from Howard County, will be offered.

TIPTON — Indiana University Health Tipton’s Cardiology Services will have “Women Take Charge of Your Heart Health” at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The event is in celebration of the American Hearth Association’s “Go Red for Women”

campaign.

Cardiologist Dr. Nathan Lambert will discuss awareness, prevention and treatment for cardiac issues.

There will be free blood pressure screenings and diabetes screenings.

Door prizes will include six free cholesterol screenings.

The event will begin at noon at the Tipton County Foundation,

Blake Stowers has been named financial services officer for Farm Credit Services of Mid-America in Kokomo.

Stowers will serve Howard, Tipton, Cass and Miami counties.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness management from Purdue University.

Shelby Keller has been promoted to retail manager for Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. in Kokomo.

Keller has worked for Cracker Barrel since November. She most recently was a manager in Lafayette.

She has 10 years of retail experience prior to working for Cracker Barrel.

Recognition

GALVESTON — Red Gold has named Red Ripe of Galveston as a Red Gold Master Grower.

It was the 10th Master Grower Award for Kevin, Kurt and Kory Wilson.

Red Gold gives the award to recipients who provide quality products and demonstrate professionalism and industry leadership.

Growers had to go through training on employee safety, human resources and mitigating soil compaction.

Indiana University Kokomo faculty member Nancy Greenwood has received the 2011 Hans O. Mauksch Award from the American Sociological Association’s Section on Teaching and Learning in Sociology.

Greenwood is chairwoman of the IU campus’ Department of Sociology, History and Political Science.
