Kimberly Diane Oakes and Robert Keith Bender have plans to wed at 1 p.m. Aug. 4, 2012, at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Nathaniel Blackamore. The reception will follow at Mt. Pisgah, and the couple will host an afterset at Kokomo Event Center.
She is the daughter of Carolyn and Larry Carver, and Denny Oakes, all of Kokomo. She graduated from Maryville High School in Tennessee in 1989 and from Ivy Tech in 2012 with a degree in human service. She is employed with Home Helpers as a home health aide.
He is the son of Wilda Bender, Kokomo, and the late Thomas Bender. He graduated from Kokomo High School in 1983 and is employed at the Chrysler Casting Plant.
The maid of honor will be Melissa Burns, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids will be Amber Powell, daughter, Deza’Rae Bender, daughter, Darlene Bender, sister of the groom, Mandy Oakes, sister, Amanda Carver, sister-in-law, Tipton. The flower girls will be Mataja and Aurora Bender, nieces of the groom, both of Kokomo. The best man will be John Bender, brother of the groom. The groomsmen will be Hoshea Blackamore, friend, Dink Bender, cousin, David Carver, brother of the bride, Jeff Weeks, friend, and Ed Merriwether, friend. The ring bearers will be Elisha and Tyler Carver, nephews. The couple’s sons, Bruce Johnson II and Andrew Bender, will also assist in the ceremony.
After a honeymoon in Wikiki, Hawaii, the couple will reside in Kokomo.
