Michigan escapees captured in Colorado

Escapees were previously seen in Kokomo.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The U.S. Marshals, the Michigan Department of Corrections Absconder Recovery Unit, and the Canon City, Colo., Police Department announced the arrest of the two escaped Michigan offenders from Lake County, Mich., according to a release issued Thursday.

Kenneth Lee Grauman, 32, and Gregory Allen Bradshaw, 23, broke out of a minimum security facility in Baldwin, Mich., Sept. 29.

The pair fled from police on at least three occasions in Michigan since the escape and are believed to be responsible for numerous home invasions and at least one stolen vehicle in Allegan County, Mich., during their flight from authorities.

Investigators from the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, the Michigan Department of Corrections Absconder Recovery Unit, the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department, the Allegan City Police Department, and the Michigan State Police have been looking for the pair since they were spotted in Allegan County Oct. 1.

The Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the local and state law enforcement agencies conducted a joint fugitive investigation and developed information that the fugitives were likely in Colorado.

Information was forwarded to the U.S. Marshals in Colorado and a joint investigation was initiated with the Canon City Police Department and the Fremont County Sheriff’s Department. Information was developed Thursday that indicated the fugitives were in Canon City, and at approximately 7 p.m. Thursday, Deputy U.S. Marshals and local officers observed the fugitives at a motel in Canon City. The fugitives were taken into custody by the Pueblo, Colo., SWAT Team without incident.

Lauralee Grauman, 29, Kenneth Grauman’s cousin, and Brittany Rector, 17, Kenneth Grauman’s girlfriend, were also located during the arrest. The two have been arrested and will be charged in Fremont County, Colo.

Grauman and Bradshaw are being held at the Fremont County Jail awaiting extradition to Michigan on their felony charges.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Grand Rapids is comprised of law enforcement officers from the U.S. Marshals, the Michigan State Police, the Grand Rapids Police Department, and the Michigan Department of Corrections Absconder Recovery Unit.
