Russiaville — Elected officials from Russiaville and Howard County plan to meet today with representatives from a food manufacturing company looking at moving to the area.
Mark Fulk, president of the Russiaville Town Council, said Monday evening that the closed-door meeting would address water, sewage and road work that would accommodate the undisclosed company.
Russiaville is considering installing about $1.9 million worth of water and sewage lines along County Road 750 West to Alto Road to accommodate the business.
Jeb Conrad, executive director of the Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance, said in March the company is looking at buying 90 acres. Indiana is one of two states the business is considering.
Fulk said Russiaville would not spend money on the work until the town was positive the company would come to the area.
“This is dependent on them moving here,” he said. “It’s not enough to justify an expansion like that. If they say, ‘We want to come,’ then we’ll support them.”
The council discussed looking for grants to pay for the project.
“There’s money out there. You’ve just got to find it,” Fulk said.
The food manufacturer would bring 100 to 200 jobs, which Fulk described as “entry level to technical.”
