Jefferson Manor director arrested

Craig R. Grimes is facing charges of dealing and possessing meth

Kokomo — The executive director of a Kokomo retirement home was arrested Monday evening on charges of dealing and possessing methamphetamine.

Members of the Kokomo Police Drug Task Force arrested 31-year-old Craig R. Grimes, executive director at Jefferson Manor Retirement Community, at 6:36 p.m. Monday. Grimes faces charges of conspiracy to deal methamphetamine, a Class B felony; possession of meth, possession of controlled substance, both D felonies; and a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.

Lt. Donald Whitehead said the arrest stems from an investigation initiated after police received information regarding multiple out-of-state shipments of methamphetamine coming to Kokomo.

Whitehead said police believe the meth shipments were being sent to Grimes at Jefferson Manor, where he serves as the executive director.

Search warrants were executed at Jefferson Manor, as well as Grimes’ residence. Police said evidence was recovered at both locations, but declined to disclose details

This matter remains under investigation, and additional charges are expected.

Whitehead would not disclose where the packages were sent from or any more details about the case except that Grimes could be facing more charges.

Whitehead did add that Grimes was not believed to be dealing to any of the residents at the facility.

Anyone having further information regarding this or any investigation is asked to contact the Kokomo Police Hotline at 456-7017, or you may qualify for a cash reward by calling Central Indiana Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS with your anonymous tip.
