Kokomo — A man suffered minor injuries in a fight on the city’s northeast side early Saturday.
The scuffle prompted one man to fire off several rounds into the air.
No one was injured in the gunfire, which prompted calls to the Kokomo Police Department at about 2:20 a.m., Detective Chad Rodgers reported.
According to a witness, three unidentified males instigated the fight.
No arrests have been made and police are hoping for the public’s help in locating those involved.
The 20-year-old man who was injured in the conflict was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital for minor injuries, police said.
Rodgers said police determined the fight occurred both inside and outside of a house in the 500 block of East Mulberry Street. During the fight, police say, a 20-year-old white male fired several shots into the air.
Police did not say what the fight was about or whether it was related to the Friday shooting death of Hassan Burnett, 18. A passerby found Burnett dead at 100 North and 300 East.
No arrests have been made in that case and it is being investigated by the Howard County Sheriff Department.
Anyone with further information about the fight or the shots fired should contact Detective Rodgers at 765-456-7350, the KPD Hotline at 765-456-7017.
