Kokomo — Kokomo police say a road rage incident in the 1000 block of West Walnut Street preceded the shots fired Thursday afternoon.

Officers were called to the area just before 4 p.m. after receiving several 911 calls of a fight and shots fired.

When police arrived, they talked to several area residents and found a man on a mo-ped in the middle of street, said Lt. Don Whitehead of the Kokomo Police Department.

Friday morning, police said they believed the mo-ped and another vehicle nearly crashed in the street, which caused the fight and eventual shooting.

No one was hit by the gunfire. One man suffered minor injuries in the fight, but refused to cooperate with police.
