Revenge over a bad drug deal is why Kokomo fire investigators believe two people set fire to an apartment on West Havens Street in September.
The blaze caused one injury to an occupant and displaced three others from their apartments in the 500 block of West Havens Street on Sept. 16.
On Monday, officers of the Kokomo Police Department arrested Allen R. Booher, 52, on a Class A felony charge of conspiracy to commit arson and an habitual offender in connection with the fire.
Investigators believe Booher and another person went to one of the apartments earlier in the day to purchase crack cocaine. They paid for the drugs, but when they went to a designated drop point, the drugs weren’t there, prompting the pair to seek revenge, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Booher’s case.
The second person has not been arrested, but is believed to be one who actually started the fire on the rear porch of the apartment building, court records stated.
