Ind. lawmakers meeting for organization day

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana lawmakers are preparing for their largely ceremonial organization day at the Statehouse.

But Tuesday is also a chance for lawmakers to outline their priorities for the legislative session that begins in January.

Some lawmakers want to take another step toward amending property tax caps into the state constitution by passing a resolution. If they pass it this year, voters will decide in the November 2010 election whether the caps go in the constitution.

Redistricting will also be an issue in the upcoming session. Some have proposed revamping the way Indiana creates new legislative maps so that the process is less political and keeps county or township lines together when possible.
