Delphi undergoes ‘realignments’

Company to eliminate 50 positions in U.S. locations

Delphi Electonics and Safety in Kokomo confirmed Wednesday that the company was undergoing “staffing realignments” and will have a net loss of 50 employees across its U.S. locations by the end of this year. There are offices in Kokomo, Auburn Hills, Troy, Mich. and Malibu, Calif.

Linda Ferries, the company’s senior communications director, said some positions will be eliminated.

“The net for our U.S. head count is a loss of about 50 positions,” she said.

“Customer requirements and market conditions are constantly changing and we work to respond to that.”

The “realigning” of salaried employees will involve some employees being “redeployed” in other positions at Delphi. The company will also be hiring to fill some of the positions.

“We will continue to look for individuals with specific skills,” Ferries said. “Hiring will continue.”

All staffing changes are expected to be made by the end of this year.

Ferries said employees whose positions were eliminated and are not redeployed will be eligible for separation packages with allowances based on the length of employment. She said the company will also help those individuals find employment elsewhere.
