Dunkin’ Donuts devotees in Kokomo looking for their morning coffee were greeted with a “Store Closing” sign Friday.
“We are very sorry to have to announce our store closing,” the sign read. “It has been our sincere pleasure to serve you over the years.”
The location has been in business for more than four years. Though store managers were not able to comment, employee Mary Ann Walker said the closing was very unexpected.
“They called the meeting at 8 p.m. last night,” she said.
With no warning time to start looking for another job, she said she’ll have to begin her search immediately.
Late Friday morning, the franchise was already packing up cartons of sprinkles, buckets of icing and furniture.
“This closing was a mutual business decision between Dunkin’ Donuts and the franchise owner of the Kokomo location,” said Michelle King, director of global public relations for Dunkin’ Donuts.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused our loyal guests,” she said. “There are additional Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants throughout the Indianapolis area.”
