— Dennis “Denny” Lee Bales, 59, Sharpsville, died at 8:28 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at Howard Regional Health System, Kokomo. He was born Aug. 15, 1952, in Vandalia, Ill., to Richard Dale and Mary (Nelson) Bales. On July 10, 1970, he married Elsie M. Bales, and she survives.
Denny was self-employed as an auto repairman. He owned and operated D and R Repair for 20 years.
He was a member of Rock Prairie Church in Tipton, Ducks Unlimited, the Eagles, the National Rifle Association and the Jim “Moose” Carden Kids Fishing Clinic, and he was a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie May Bales, Sharpsville; son, Robert Bales, Sharpsville; son, Brandon Bales, Sharpsville; eight grandchildren; brother, Larry D. Bales, Sharpsville; brother, Jim L. Bales, Kokomo; brother, Daniel Bales, Kokomo; sister, Mary Ann Martin, Linton; sister, Nancy L. Watters, Cicero; and sister, Debbie S. Dunn, Sharpsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Brian Lee Bales.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Rock Prairie Church on Ind. 19 in Tipton. Pastor Kevin Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Sharpsville Cemetery, Sharpsville. Calling hours are 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Boyer Funeral Home, 204 N. Church St., Sharpsville, and one hour before funeral services Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jim “Moose” Carden Kids Fishing Clinic in Kokomo.
