Vernon Campbell, 90, Kokomo, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at McGivney Health Care Center in Carmel. He was born in Cleveland, Texas, but lived most of his adult life in Kokomo.
He served in the Army during World War II. He was an infantryman in the Pacific theater. He retired from Kokomo Opalescent Glass Company. He also was employed at Hoosier Iron, and in the heating and plumbing business.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth Campbell; two sons, David H. (Kathy) Campbell and Dale A. (Phyllis) Campbell, both of Florida; four grandchildren, David (Angie) Campbell, Zionsville, Jim Campbell, Florida, Stacy (Greg) Barkley, Florida, and Jason Campbell, Kokomo; great-grandchildren, Ethen, Zachary and Jillian Campbell, Dylan Barkley, and Lucas Campbell; a brother, Earl Campbell, Kokomo; and a sister, Sybil Roberts, Texas.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, with Rev. Rebecca Sundquist officiating. Entombment will take place in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
