Allen J. Hunt, 56, Kokomo, died at 7:47 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at his home. He was born Oct. 15, 1955, in Kokomo, the son of Jerry L. and Marilyn A. (Mitchell) Hunt, who survive in Kokomo.
Allen was a 1974 graduate of Kokomo High School. He began his working career working for Dietzen Bakery. He then served his apprenticeship with the IBEW Local 873, becoming a union electrician. He began his career in the skilled trades at Delco Electronics and retired from Delphi Corp. in 2007.
He was a member of South Side Christian Church. He enjoyed NASCAR and for a period of time had owned and raced sprint cars. He was an avid Colts fan and enjoyed riding his Harley. Time spent entertaining his family at his lake cottage on Lake Webster was precious.
Surviving in addition to his parents are two sisters, Susan Jones and husband Norris, Russiaville, LeeAnne Turner, Glendale, Ariz.; a special friend of over 15 years, Sheila Moore, Kokomo; his Schnauzer, Myles; two nephews, Cory Jones and wife Amanda, and Josh Jones; three nieces, Angie Vazquez, Jessi Stafford and husband Seth, and Sara Turner; three great nephews, Trent Perkins, Tyler Perkins and Carston Jones; and two great-nieces, Ryann Jones and Reese Jones.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home and Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, with Pastor Becky Sundquist officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, near Forest. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
