Mary Elizabeth Rainwater, 71, Kokomo, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, in her home. She was born Oct. 5, 1941, in Kennett, Mo., to the late Chester and Gladys (Lancaster) Rainwater.
Mary graduated from high school, and then continued her education with a degree in carpentry from Ivy Tech. She worked at Delco for 27 years, retiring in 1992. Some of Mary’s favorite pastimes included: fishing, bingo and playing Café World and other computer games. Above everything else, Mary always loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children, Ron (Carlette) Green, Logansport, Dee (Rick) Kelly, Lafayette, Chuck Green, Kokomo, and Leigh (Rufus Geiles) Bradley, Edinburgh; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a special aunt and uncle, Robert (Dixie) Lancaster, Miami; and siblings, Barbara (Bill) Godwin, Biggers, Arkansas, Stanley (Donna) Rainwater, Noble, Ark., and Pearlie (Jerry) Lidy, Russiaville.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and loving companion of 23 years, David L. Smith.
There will be a funeral service for Mary at 3 p.m. Sunday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., with Pastor Dan Coomer officiating. All of Mary’s friends and family are welcome to join for a time of visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service, also at the Main Street Chapel.
