Russell Lowell Scott

April 26, 1936 - Jan, 11, 2013

Russell Lowell Scott, 76, passed away suddenly Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, with his loving family by his side.

He was a devoted Christian who served God with all his being, loyal and totally devoted to Lois, his wife of 35 years, and loved his six children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Russell was an usher and active member of Souls Harbor Worship Center in Tipton. He was born in Lincoln. He lived in the Kokomo area the majority of his adult life, less 22 winters when he and Lois escaped the snow to North Fort Myers, Fla.

Russell had a zeal for life and the pursuit for spreading happiness and joy and no time to grumble or complain about insignificant details. He was soft-spoken, nonjudgmental and showed love and kindness to everyone he met.

He treasured taking Lois on adventure trips to flea markets, yard sales and malls, but also allowed time to taste the delights of any restaurant on the route.

He coached his boys’ Little League teams. He loved playing Dominos, bicycling, yard work and tinkering around with one project or another in his shop.

Russell was a man who influenced many people but most importantly made a significant impact in the lives of every one of his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife; two sisters, Wilma Michael and Ellen Ellerbrook; five children, Stephen Scott, Charlie Scott, Christy (Jaenicke) Julovich, Michael Jaenicke and Steven Jaenicke.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Odra and Blanche Scott; his brother, Larry; and his son, Don Jaenicke.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be sent to Russell’s mission home on earth, Souls Harbor Worship Center.
