Thomas A. Irwin

Thomas A. “Tom” Irwin, 84, Kokomo, passed away at 7:04 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at his residence. He was born May 26, 1928, in Tipton County, to Charles E. and Ruthie Pearl Irwin. In 1983, he married Marilyn Wall, who survives.

Tom was employed at Continental Steel Corp. for 30 years, retiring in 1976. He held several temporary positions after retiring. He had a passion for golf and enjoyed bowling for several years. He served two tours of duty with the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946 and 1953 to 1954.

Tom is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Joanna Irwin, Kokomo, Charles K. (Tori) Irwin, Logansport; stepson, Dominick Shrader, Wabash; brother, Kenny (Jane) Irwin, Kokomo; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, James L., Cedric W. and Glen “Barney” Irwin.

Per his request, there will be no public services or visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

The family wishes to thank the people of Great Lakes Hospice for their care of Tom during his illness.
