Juanita Lois Copeland

Oct. 10, 1945 - Jan. 14, 2013

Juanita Lois Copeland, 67, Kokomo, passed away at 8:43 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at her residence. She was born Oct. 10, 1945, in Laurel County, Ky., to the late James E. and Martha E. (Casteel) Shelton.

Juanita graduated from Kokomo High School. She was of the Apostolic Pentecostal faith. She attended cosmetology school and became a beautician and hairstylist. She owned Juanita’s Boutique for over 15 years in Russellville, Ark. In Kokomo she worked as a cashier for Waffle House and Richards Restaurant for seven years, where she got a lot of “love and hugs.” She also worked at Delco Electronics for four years.

She married Joe Copeland on March 17, 1986, in Russellville, Ark.  

Surviving are her husband, Joe Copeland; two sons, Steven Wampler (Christine), and the Rev. Joe David Wampler (Aimee), both of Kokomo; a daughter, Stephanie Alexandra (Brian), Kokomo; a stepson, Steven Copeland (Mary), Russellville, Ark.; a stepdaughter, Denise Copeland, Statesville, N.C.; two sisters, Jean Purvis (Paul), Kentucky, Brenda Pattison (Bill), Peru; a brother, Lester Shelton, English; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, James Sherman Shelton and Carlos Dean Shelton.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Ellers Mortuary, Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. Services will follow at noon, also at the mortuary, with the Rev. Joe David Wampler officiating. Burial will be in Albright Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Juanita may be made to the American Cancer Society. You are invited to read Juanita’s obituary online at www.ellersmortuary.com, where you may sign the guest book, share a personal message with the family or order flowers for the family.
