David Merrill Hinkle Sr.

Sept. 15, 1956 - Jan. 16, 2013

David Merrill Hinkle Sr., 56, Kokomo and formerly Peru, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at his residence. He was born Sept. 15, 1956, in Tipton to Donald Max Hinkle Sr. and Irma Ruth (Barnett). On May 19, 2012, he married Kimberly (Bannon), and she survives.

David enjoyed his job at Walmart, where he was a greeter. That is also where he met his wife, Kimberly Hinkle. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching TV. He never met a stranger.    

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Hinkle, Kokomo; children, David M. and Sybil Hinkle Jr., Bunker Hill, Joshua and Sherry Hinkle Sr., Denver, Natasha N. and Brandon Everling, Tipton; stepchildren, Michael and Kathleen Astuto, Douglasville, Ga., David and Christy Astuto, Atwood, Tenn., and Chris Astuto, Jacksonville, Tenn.; his mother, Irma Barnett; siblings, Donald Max and Vickie Hinkle Jr., Glenn R. Hinkle, Gary and Linda Hinkle, Deritha and Dennis McKee, Hink and Sharon Hinkle, Danny and Bridgett Hinkle; seven stepbrothers and stepsisters; mother-in-law, Madonna Smith; sister-in-law, Denise and Burt Lancaster; brothers-in-law, John and Martha Bolinger, Chris and Debbie Bolinger; 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special mothers, Dezzi Tobin and Helen Cunningham.        

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie M. (Midgett) Hinkle; and his father, Donald Max Hinkle Sr.   

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street, 725 S. Main St., with Pastor John Dillon officiating. Inurnment of his cremains will be at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
