Gladys Eleanor Winton

July 14, 1934 - Jan. 31, 2013

— Gladys Eleanor Winton, 78, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at her home. She is now receiving her reward in the Lord.

She was born July 14, 1934, to Samuel and Elizabeth (Stone) Carter. On May 8, 1955, in Kokomo, she married Larry Winton, and he preceded her in death April 8, 2002.

She worked at the Literacy Coalition of Howard County as the Literacy Coordinator. She was a member of Judson Road Christian Church, the Rebekah Lodge in Kokomo and the Howard County Democratic Party.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Ginger) Winton, Greentown, Tony (Sandy) Winton, Glenwood, Iowa, Melanie (Kevin) Kuhns, Kokomo, Tim (Leann) Winton, Noblesville, and Teresa (Steve) Chism, San Antonio, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Tosha Hess, David Kovamees, Mary Beth Stanley, Allison Polly, Samuel Winton, Thomas Winton, Sara Kuhns, Phillip Kuhns, Libby Winton and Chaz Chism; a host of great-grandchildren; three brothers; and a sister.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Visiting hours will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A private funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Winton officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
