M. Keith Stearns

June 13, 1930 - Feb. 4, 2013

— M. Keith Stearns, 82, Kokomo, passed away on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Fairmont Rehabilitation Center. He was born June 13, 1930, in Clinton County, Ky., to Luther and Oda (Marcum) Stearns. On Aug. 31, 1957, he married Kathleen “Kathy” Cross, and she survives.

He served in the United States Army in Germany and also at Arlington Cemetery at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He attended Eastern Kentucky University. He first worked at the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. and later owned Stearns Moving and Storage, which he started in Kokomo in 1960. He enjoyed golfing.

In addition to his wife, Kathleen “Kathy” Stearns, he is survived by one son, Greg Stearns, Logansport; one daughter, Jamie Stearns, Bradenton, Fla.; one brother, Kirby Stearns, Florida; four sisters, Kolema Davis, Taylorsville, Ky., Kate Dowell, Ramelle Cole and Estelle Groce, all of Albany, Ky.; 17 nieces and nephews; and a special sister-in-law, Monrie Guinn, Albany, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kay Stearns; and one sister, Kathleen Conner.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, with Pastor Stan Zirker officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
