Benita Garner entered into divine peace Friday, Nov. 16, 2012. She was born June 16, 1959. She was the daughter of Emma Lee (Ligon) and Andrew Garner, and both preceded her in death, along with two brothers, Larry Garner and Gary Garner, and a nephew, Terrance Garner.
Benita will be greatly missed by her daughter, TeNeka Kennedy, and her son-in-law, Monell Kennedy; four grandchildren, Josiah Kennedy, Elijah Kennedy, Jasmine Kennedy and Daisha Kennedy; three sisters, Jewell Phillips, St. Louis, Mo., Naomi Garner, Kokomo, and Audrey Garner, Clarksville, Tenn., all of whom she is survived by. She will also be greatly missed by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Benita graduated from Kokomo High School in 1978. During her teen years she was runner-up in the Miss Black Kokomo Pageant.
Benita confessed her love for Christ and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Jefferson, Ky. Benita was a fun and energetic person who loved music, books and traveling. The family would like to thank all who prayed on Benita’s behalf and gave encouraging words to the Kennedy/Garner family.
Services will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the House of Day Funeral Service, 2550 Nebraska Ave., Toledo, Ohio. Visitation will start at 4 p.m.
