Kokomo —
Amos M. Blakeslee, 77, Kokomo, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Community Howard Regional Health Hospital. He was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Conneaut, Ohio, the son of Arthur M. and Aletha Blakeslee. In December 1978, Amos married Phyllis Swinney Peltier, and she survives.
Amos was a 1953 graduate of Rowe High School in Conneaut, Ohio, and a 1961 graduate of BFA Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958. He was a member of First Christian Church DOC of Kokomo. He was also a member of Evergreen Lodge 222 F&AM in Conneaut, Ohio, Past Patron of the Kokomo Chapter 89 O.E.S., Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine of Indianapolis, and Kokomo Chapter SPEBSQSA: Men of Note, and American Legion Post 6 in Kokomo. He was a volunteer for Community Howard Regional Hospital, Kokomo Senior Center, Meals on Wheels and Women of Carver Debutante Cotillion.
In addition to his wife, Phyllis, Amos is survived by a sister, Barbara Devore and husband Alvin; two step-sisters; a step-daughter, Linda Peltier Lanning Goodenough; step-granddaughters, Heather Lanning Warner and Holly Lanning; step-son, Kim E. Peltier and wife Kathy; step-granddaughters, Amber Galloway Stephens and Shay Galloway; step-great-grandsons, Ryan Harrington, Gaylon Wade Cross, Tristan Lee Warner and Jace Patrick Stephens; and one step-great-great-granddaughter, Harley Harrington.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, 854 Malfalfa Road, with Pastor Will Jewsbury officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Washington Park North Cemetery, Indianapolis. Friends may call on the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road.
