Robert O. Bowers

Robert O. Bowers, 75, North Baltimore, Ohio, formerly of Peru, died at 3:05 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at the Bowling Green Manor in Ohio. He was born Jan. 20, 1937, in Kenton, Ohio, to the late Irvin and Nellie (Dughman) Bowers. He married Marlene McCartney, and she preceded him in death.

Robert was a U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force veteran, serving our country during the Vietnam War. He retired from the U.S. Air Force. He also worked and retired from General Motors as an electrician. He was a member of the UAW Local 292 in Kokomo, and the Airborne Command Post Association.

Robert is survived by his sons, Mark (Lora) Bowers, Bloomdale, Ohio, and Eric Bowers, Mt. Blanchard, Ohio; his daughter, Terry (Denny) West, North Baltimore, Ohio; his brother, Paul (Sandy) Bowers, Florida; his sisters, Joyce (Jay) Spence, North Baltimore, Ohio, and Sharon (Ron) Washburn, Phoenix, Ariz.; his sister-in-law, Ruth Bowers; his grandchildren, Kristy, Brenden, Cameron and Greg; and a great-granddaughter, Michelle.  

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles and David Bowers.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Smith-Crates Funeral Home, 515 N. Main St., North Baltimore, Ohio. Burial will be in New Maplewood Cemetery in North Baltimore, where full military rites will be conducted by the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539. Visitation will be held 2 to 4 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
