James Anthony Lockert, 50, Florida, formerly of Kokomo, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012, in Miami, Fla. He was born on July 19, 1961, in Kokomo, the son of James and Gwendolyn (Moore) Lockert.
He was a 1980 graduate of Haworth High School. During his high school years, he appeared on several Kokomo Tribune cover pages for football, basketball and track and field. He was employed as a Fleet Service Captain of Bagroom FSC for American Airlines. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. His parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his fiancee, Stephanie Simpson (her daughter, McKayla), North Miami Beach, Fla.; two sons and two daughters, Dondre Johnson, Indianapolis, Brandon Johnson (Katie), Noblesville, Aneasha Lockert, Noblesville, and Brittany Lockert, Kokomo; seven siblings, Pam McKinney (Frederick), Indianapolis, Charles Lockert, Indianapolis, Cheryl Lockert, Longview, Texas, Tracy Lockert, Indianapolis, Larry Lockert, Indianapolis, Michelle Lockert, Louisville, Ky., and Marcella Lockert, Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren; cousins; nieces; nephews; and a host of many friends and colleagues.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Second Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Robert A. Lee will be the officiant and eulogist. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until services Monday at the church. Entombment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Bluitt and Son Funeral Home.
