Judy Ann Byrd, 81, Peru, died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born Jutta Ilse Bull in Berlin, Germany, on March 8, 1928, the daughter of Hans and Charlotte Bull. She immigrated to the United States in 1948. She married William J. Wolfe on Sept. 22, 1951, who preceded her in death in 1973. She later married Dr. Sherman C. Byrd on Feb. 18, 1978.
She became a U.S. citizen on Aug. 21, 1964. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Peru and enjoyed outreach activities. She created beautiful needlework and artwork. She was a crossword puzzle enthusiast. She will be especially remembered for her love for her family and her kindness to those around her and faith in Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Sherman; children and step-children, William (Anne) Wolfe, Jamison, Pa., James (Ann) Wolfe, Taylorville, Ill., Robert (Carol) Wolfe, Bangor, Pa., Henry (Anna) Wolfe, Milltown, Audrey (Steve) Dirksen, Grand Rapids, Mich., Stephen (Chris) Wolfe, Bunker Hill, William (Vicki) Byrd, Logansport, Richard (Joni) Byrd, West Lafayette, Lucile (Richard) Griffiths, Peoria, Ariz., and Elizabeth (Alan) Fenters, New Bremen, Ohio; 22 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 10 a.m. until noon Tuesday at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home in Peru. Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastors Jack Hess and Jim Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery in Peru.
