Kaye Millspaugh

June 19, 1916 - July 30, 2009

Kaye Millspaugh, 93, Greentown, died at 7:55 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Northwood Village in Kokomo. She was born in Gas City to Charles and Mable (Rhoadhamel) Van Valer, who both preceded her in death. She married John Frederick “Fred” Millspaugh in 1935, and he preceded her in death in 1978.

She was a homemaker and previously worked and co-owned several businesses with her husband, Fred. She enjoyed Bridge Club in her younger years and Golden Agers in latter years. She loved helping need children (taken them in), working crossword puzzles, crocheting, cooking and having family and friends in, reading the newspaper and having her grandkids over for sleepovers.

Surviving are daughters, Betsy J. Bailey, Kokomo, Pamela (Roger) Hendricks, Herrin, Ill., and Sue Ellen (Michael) Utterback, Lebanon, Tenn., sons, Larry Millspaugh, Austin, Texas, Michael Van (Phyllis) Millspaugh, Okeechobee, Fla., and Robert (Jane) Millspaugh, Greentown; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Dick Van Valer; sister, Erna Van Valer Patrick; sister, Peg Van Valer; and brother, Bob Van Valer.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Memory Care Unit of Northwood Village, 2233 W. Jefferson St., Kokomo, IN 46901, in memory of Kaye Millspaugh. Online condolences may be made at www.nswcares.com.

Family will greet friends from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington St., Swayzee. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Lynn Brust from Center Road Church of Christ, Kokomo, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Gas City, at a later date.

    Donald R. Jerrels, Sr., 75, Peru, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at Howard Regional Health System in Kokomo. He was born April 23, 1936, in Dugger, to James and Mary (Buckner) Jerrels. On Nov. 20, 1989, he married Marcia Miller, and she survives.

    David Gibson Beard, 64, Kokomo passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Oct. 15, 1947, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Samuel and Claudia (Walker) Gibson. He was one of three sons born to this union, including Samuel Jr. and Devere. After the death of their parents and grandparents, the boys were adopted by Earl Nathan and Gladie Lee Beard, Kokomo.

    Mabel Berniece Shaw, 97, Greentown, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Century Villa Nursing Home, Greentown. Berniece was born in Cyclone on Nov. 1, 1914, to the late William and Margaret Benge. She married Alton Leroy Show on April 6, 1933, in Kokomo. Alton preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 2003.
