James A. Parker, 68, Kokomo, passed away at 2:38 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Howard Regional Health System. He was born Feb. 6, 1942, the son of Lendon Parker and Vivian Embry, in Dardanelle, Ark.
James was a service technician for Indiana Bell Telephone Co., retiring after 35 years of service. He was a United States Air Force veteran. He was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church, where he attended Bible study. He was also a member of the Mighty Men of Second Missionary Baptist Church, former member of the Road Knights Motorcycle Club, Elks Lodge and worked with the drill team. James loved his family, especially spending time with his mom.
He is survived by his daughter, Jamea Darlene (Me-Me) Parker, Kokomo; mother, Vivian Embry, Kokomo; sister, Margaret A. Parker, Los Angeles, Calif.; niece, Deborah Cotton; nephew, Larry Northington; several great-nieces and nephews; his faithful dog, “Baby D”; and other relatives and friends.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Second Missionary Baptist Church, 818 Apperson Way N. Pastor Robert Lee will be the officiant and the eulogist. Visitation is 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery.
