Robert E. Peele, 79, of Kokomo, passed away at 12:25 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Fairmont Rehabilitation Center. Robert was born Dec. 19, 1932, in Kokomo, to the late Glen and Zula Peele. Robert was in the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War and was a member of the Seabees. He worked at Kolux, before going to work for the family business, Superior Welding as a welder then later as owner and operator. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge #255, and Cam Crammers.
Survivors include his son, Bobby Peele; his best friend and partner, Mary Irwin; Mary’s children, Jimmy, Bobby, Ronnie and Jeff Irwin, which were a part of his life, along with Mary’s grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Zula Peele; and a brother, Buddy Lee Peele.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Ellers Mortuary, Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St. Services will be at noon Tuesday at the mortuary with Chaplain Brent Kirby officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. There will be full military honors provided by the U.S. Navy and the Kokomo Military Rites team at the cemetery.
