Eldon Keith Wittkamper

Eldon Keith Wittkamper, 69, Elwood, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after a six-week illness. He was born Dec. 1, 1943, in Tipton County, to Joseph and Agnes Lucille (Mock) Wittkamper. Eldon was a life-long resident of Tipton County. On June 8, 1969, he married Marla Henderson, and she survives.

Eldon was a farmer, auctioneer, school bus driver and currently owned and operated his own lawn care business, Eldon’s Elite Lawn Service. He was a member and former elder of West Street Christian Church in Tipton, and belonged to the Tipton Kiwanis, Tipton Horseshoe Association and the Indiana Auctioneers Association. He loved having fun and spending time with family and friends. He never knew a stranger.

Survivors include his wife, Marla; three children, Jentry Wittkamper and wife Alisha (Lewis), Pendleton, Derek Wittkamper, Essex, Mass., and Lynlee (Wittkamper) Funk and husband Aaron, Anderson; one sister, Berneta Beiswanger, Wolcottville; three brothers, Ferrill Wittkamper, Elwood, Dwight Wittkamper, Anderson, and Marvin Wittkamper, Elwood; five grandchildren, Katelin Wittkamper, Karlie Wittkamper, Claire Wittkamper, Adeline Wittkamper and Wyatt Funk; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Louise Jordan; brothers, Loren and Maurice Wittkamper; nephews, Dorane Beiswanger and Brian Wittkamper; nieces, Karen Fulkerson, Tonda Pratt and Nadine Wilhoite; and great-nephew, Gregory Clark.

A memorial service for Eldon will be 1 p.m. Friday at West Street Christian Church, 132 N. West Street, Tipton, with Rev. Linda McKiernan-Allen presiding. The family will receive friends from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church, and for one hour prior to the service Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hemophilia Association of Indiana, 5172 E. 65th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46220, or West Street Christian Church. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
