Harry Smith, 73, Amboy, passed away at 11:05 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at North Woods Village, Kokomo. He was born Feb. 9, 1939 in Kokomo, the son of Charlie and Flossie Bowles Smith. Harry married Patricia McDaniel in Peru on June 3, 1967, and she survives.
He was a 1957 graduate of Clay Township High School, and was employed at the Chrysler Transmission Plant for more than 30 years, retiring in 1998. Harry attended the Life and Grace Bible Fellowship and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Pat, are daughters, Debbie (Randy) Bowland, Amboy, and Christine (Richard) Saylors, Converse; sons, Charles (Sheryl) Smith, Kokomo, and Harry (Darcy) Smith, Grayling, Mich.; a brother, Authonel Smith, Upland; a sister, Martha Jane Miller, Florida; and 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Mark Gaffney, and a brother, Wayne Smith.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 N. Main, Amboy, with Pastors John Haines and Roy McDaniel officiating. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Marion National Cemetery, Marion.
