Patricia K. McWhorter, 68, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, following a period of declining strength and health at her home. Patricia, a daughter given by the Lord to Kenneth and Ruth Dodson, was born in Maysville, Ky., on Christmas day 1944. In the days prior to her passing she expressed to her family and friends her desire to be with her Lord.
Today, we rejoice in the knowledge that she has passed the barrier of time as we know it and is forever at home with the Savior she faithfully served for 50 years.
On Feb. 2, 1963, she married Ireland McWhorter, who survives. Together, for 50 years, they ministered the love of Christ and mentored couples and other believers in their Christian walks with the Lord.
She will be remembered for her unwavering faith in God because she gathered her strength from the authority of his word. She lovingly helped the poor on a weekly basis by organizing her church food pantry and was passionately involved in all activities in which her grandchildren participated.
She has now come to the time for which she lived. This is not her end, but her eternal beginning.
Oh by the way, do you know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior? Ask him into your heart today and you will gain heaven. You will be pleasantly surprised what he will do for you.
Surviving, along with her husband, are two daughters, Mrs. Mona White and husband Rex, Georgetown, Texas, and Mrs. Crystal Sanburn and husband Dick, Kokomo; six grandchildren, Nolan Sanburn, Abby White, Parker Sanburn, Laura White, Connor Sanburn and Morgan White; sisters Donna Baker, Mooresville, Gale Hutte and husband Ernie, Florida; brothers, Dale and James Dodson, both of York, Pa.; many loving friends and a supportive church family.
Her oldest grandchild, Megan White, welcomed her into heaven.
Viewing will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at New Life Church, 1803 E. Vaile Ave., Kokomo. The funeral will take place immediately following the viewing at 2 p.m. Committal will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to New Life Church Food Pantry or the Kokomo Rescue Mission.
